Veracruz rough running exhaust leak
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Hyundai Veracruz with 168,900 km is experiencing rough running and an exhaust leak with a strong odor, accompanied by a check engine light. The initial suspicion is a defective lambda sensor in the exhaust treatment system. After further investigation, it is confirmed that the lambda sensor was indeed the cause of the problem, leading to its replacement.

Did you also have exhaust leakage or a noticeable odor? I'm wondering if it's more than just the lambda sensor.

Now that you mention it, yes, I recall a faint smell, but no visible leaks. It was like something wasn't quite right. Honestly, with those symptoms, a workshop diagnosis might be best. They can check the NOx sensors, too.

The lambda sensor was indeed defective, causing the symptoms. The repair cost was 375€.

I own a Veracruz too, and I had something similar last year. Engine light was on, and it felt like I was driving a tractor – very rough. Could it be the particulate filter or the EGR valve? Have you checked those?
