Verso Bumper Antenna Problems
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Toyota Verso was experiencing issues with remote locking, engine starting, and an error code related to the bumper antenna. The problem was suspected to be caused by a faulty antenna connection, which could interfere with the car's security system and engine immobilizer. Thanks for the quick reply! I did a quick visual inspection of the wiring near the antenna mount, but didn't see anything obvious. Is there a specific way to test the cable or plug connection to definitively rule it out? I'm not sure where the other end of the cable goes to check the connection there.

You are most welcome. Given the symptoms and the error code, it would be prudent to have a professional diagnose the issue. While a visual inspection is helpful, a technician can use specialized tools to test the continuity and signal strength of the antenna cable, as well as check for any shorts or impedance mismatches. It is like diagnosing a heart condition - sometimes you need more than just a stethoscope. The location of the cable runs can vary depending on the specific vehicle configuration, so it's best left to someone with the proper schematics and experience. The bumper antenna issue is very likely, and the repair cost should be around 95€.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to my local mechanic, and you were spot on! It was indeed a faulty connection in the bumper antenna wiring. They replaced the connector, cleared the error code, and everything is back to normal. The final bill was 95€, just as you predicted. I appreciate the help!

Good day. It certainly sounds like you have a gremlin in the system! The symptoms you describe are quite varied, but the error code pointing to the bumper antenna is a valuable clue. Think of it like this: modern car electronics are like a complex network, and the antenna, while seemingly simple, could be a critical node. A defective cable or plug connection there could be sending spurious signals, interfering with the car's security system and even the engine immobilizer. Have you inspected the antenna's wiring harness for any signs of damage or corrosion?
