Verso Diesel Check Engine Light and Stalling

My 2011 Toyota Verso diesel has a check engine light, stalls at idle, and has reduced power at 181124 km. Diagnostics suggest a fuel volume regulator issue, possibly from a defective high-pressure pump. Has anyone else experienced this?

I own a Verso too and your symptoms sound awfully familiar. I remember experiencing similar issues – check engine light, rough idling, and a definite lack of oomph. In my case, it turned out to be related to the fuel system as well. Was your fuel economy also affected?

Thanks, I appreciate you sharing. I have observed a slight decrease in fuel economy recently. Could you elaborate on the specific component that failed in your vehicle and the eventual resolution?

In my case, the garage confirmed the high-pressure pump was failing and messing with the fuel regulator. Best get it checked at a workshop – fuel issues can get nasty real quick.

Based on your experience, I'll have the high-pressure pump and fuel regulator inspected by a mechanic. I had the car repaired. The fuel volume regulator was defective, caused by the high pressure pump, and the total cost was 1510€.
