Verso diesel engine issues

I'm experiencing issues with my 2018 Toyota Verso diesel. At 150933 km, I've noticed higher fuel consumption, reduced engine power, and the check engine light is on. I suspect cylinder pressure fluctuation, but I'm unsure of the cause. Has anyone experienced similar issues?

Summary of the thread

A 2018 Toyota Verso diesel is experiencing higher fuel consumption, reduced engine power, and an illuminated check engine light at 150,933 km. The suspected issue is cylinder pressure fluctuation, which could be caused by various factors such as crankshaft, head gasket, piston rings, or sensors. It is suggested that the problem might be a consequential error, where a failing sensor could be causing incorrect data readings. The recommended solution is to visit a trusted workshop for proper diagnostics and repair.

I had something similar with my Verso. Check engine light, loss of power, the works. A fluctuation in cylinder pressure can be caused by many things: crankshaft, head gasket, piston rings, spark plug, camshaft. It might be a consequential error, meaning it's a symptom of something else going wrong. What troubleshooting have you done so far?

Thanks. I haven't done any detailed troubleshooting yet, as I lack the equipment. I was hoping to gather some insights before potentially misdiagnosing the problem. Could you elaborate on the 'consequential error' aspect?

Sure. By consequential error, I mean the cylinder pressure issue might not be the primary fault. For example, a failing sensor could be sending incorrect data, causing the engine to compensate in a way that affects cylinder pressure. Given the symptoms, and without proper diagnostic tools, I'd advise against DIY repairs. I recommend a visit to a trusted workshop.

Understood, thanks for the clarification and advice. A workshop visit seems best. Interestingly, the error disappeared by itself and after visiting a workshop, the repair was free. I appreciate your help!
