Summary of the thread
A 2012 Toyota Verso is experiencing immobilizer issues, where the engine starts briefly and then dies, with diagnostics indicating an immobilizer error. The problem could be related to the key or other car electronics. A similar issue was resolved by reprogramming the key at a workshop, which successfully fixed the problem.

Could you elaborate on the specifics of the Megane issue? Were the symptoms identical – specifically, the engine starting briefly before cutting out, and an immobilizer-related error code?

Yes, the symptoms were identical. I suggest taking it to a workshop to get the key reprogrammed. It might solve the issue.

The issue was indeed a programming problem with the key. Reprogramming at the workshop for 45€ resolved it.

I had similar issues with my Renault Megane a while back. Symptoms sound identical.
