Verso Incomplete System Readiness Check
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Toyota Verso diesel had an incomplete system readiness check issue, suspected to be caused by a recent OBD2 diagnostic scan. This problem can occur when readiness flags are wiped during code resets or tests, requiring the car to complete a drive cycle to reset them. A specific driving pattern involving city and highway driving is usually needed to trigger the readiness checks. The issue was resolved by following an online guide to reset the OBD system, which successfully completed the system readiness check.

So, if I understand correctly, the car just needs to run for a while to reset these flags? Is there anything specific I need to do while driving to trigger the readiness checks?

Yep, you're on the right track. It usually involves a specific driving pattern - a mix of city and highway driving, steady speeds, accelerations, and decelerations. But honestly, it can be a real pain to get it to complete properly, and it varies from car to car. Sometimes it takes days! And if there’s an underlying issue, it won’t complete at all. If you are worried or it's critical that your car passes the system check, then it might be worth taking it to a workshop, so they can force this check or at least find out what's wrong.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I took your advice and did some digging. Turns out, the incomplete readiness check was a known issue after using certain OBD2 scanners. I followed a guide I found online to reset the OBD system, which cost me 0€. All seems good now, the error is gone and the system readiness check has completed!

Yeah, I've heard about that happening after OBD2 diagnostics. The system readiness is basically the car checking if all its emissions systems are working correctly. Sometimes, when you reset the codes or run certain tests with a scanner, it can wipe those readiness flags. The car needs to run through its drive cycle again to reset them. Are you planning on getting your car inspected soon? If yes, then it should be fixed before.
