Verso NOx Catalyst Aging Exhaust Leak
Summary of the thread
The conversation centers around a 2013 Toyota Verso experiencing a check engine light due to a NOx storage catalyst aging issue, suspected to be caused by an exhaust leak. The problem was identified as an exhaust leak affecting the catalyst's efficiency. A suggested solution was to conduct a smoke test to accurately locate the leak. The issue was resolved by fixing the leak, which cleared the error.

Thanks for your input. The error code relates specifically to the NOx catalyst efficiency being below threshold. The diagnostic tool suggests it's linked to the exhaust leak, implying unburnt hydrocarbons are affecting the catalyst. Where exactly was the exhaust leak in your case? Was it before or after the catalyst?

The leak was indeed the source of my woes, discovered post-catalyst, compromising the sensor readings. Considering the intricacies of modern emissions systems, I highly recommend visiting a workshop for a proper assessment. They should conduct a smoke test to pinpoint the leak accurately.

Thank you for confirming my suspicions and providing the valuable advice. I took your advice and went to the workshop. Indeed, there was a leak which was causing this. It has now been fixed and the error has been cleared. The repair cost me 265€. I appreciate your help!

Interesting. I have a Verso as well, and I had similar issues recently. Exhaust leaking is a serious matter. Could you provide more details about the specific error codes you're seeing?
