Verso transmission issues

I am experiencing issues with my 2017 Toyota Verso (gasoline engine). The transmission seems to be failing. Symptoms include shifting not possible via paddle shifters, gearbox slipping, grinding noises when shifting, slow paddle shifter response, and the gearbox entering emergency mode. An error code is also stored. Could this be a defective transmission control unit?

Sounds like you're having a rough time! I had similar issues with my Toyota Verso. No paddle shifters, and the shifts were awful. Does it feel like you're driving a tractor sometimes? Thank you for your response. I have checked the fluid levels and there were no issues, and I have also read the error memory. It seems to point towards the transmission control unit as the likely culprit. Are you able to provide more details about the issues you experienced with your Verso?

Yes, absolutely. In my case, the symptoms were almost identical to yours. Error codes pointed to the TCU, and after some digging, it turned out to be the culprit. My suggestion would be to take it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis and repair. Those electronic issues can be tricky and you could end up damaging something else if you attempt a repair yourself.
