Vezel Hybrid Error Memory Notification

I've got a 2023 Honda Vezel hybrid with 127,346 km. I'm getting an 'Error stored in the error memory' notification, and the engine's running hotter than I'm comfortable with. I suspect a bypass valve malfunction, but I've got a hunch this might be a 'consequential error,' meaning it's showing up because of something else. Anyone seen anything similar?

Summary of the thread

A 2023 Honda Vezel hybrid owner reported an 'Error stored in the error memory' notification and an overheating engine, suspecting a bypass valve malfunction. A suggestion was made to check for a vacuum leak, as similar issues in other vehicles were caused by such leaks. Upon further investigation at a workshop, the problem was identified as a faulty sensor in the air intake, which was triggering the bypass valve error. The sensor was replaced under warranty, resolving the issue.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Interesting. I had a similar head-scratcher with my old Audi A3. The symptoms sound eerily familiar. I was chasing my tail trying to fix what I thought was a faulty mass airflow sensor, but it turned out to be a vacuum leak causing the whole cascade of issues. What have you checked so far in terms of the air intake and vacuum system?

Vacuum leak, huh? That’s a good shout. I focused on the valve itself. Where exactly on your A3 did you find the leak? Any specific hoses or connections I should be eyeballing first on the Vezel? Knowing where to start poking around would save me time.

On my A3, it was a cracked vacuum hose right near the brake booster. A tiny split, almost invisible, but enough to throw everything off. Honestly, though, given that it's a hybrid and newer than my A3 was, just get it scanned at a workshop to pinpoint the root cause if you are unsure. Better safe than sorry, especially with overheating involved.

You were spot on! Took it to the shop as you suggested, and it turned out to be a faulty sensor in the air intake – triggering the bypass valve error as a consequence. They cleared the error, replaced the sensor. Repair cost was 0€, the component was still under warranty. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
