Viano Diesel Electric Seat Problem

My 2005 Mercedes Viano diesel has a non functioning passenger electric seat The error memory indicates a fault I've read a discharged battery might be the cause Has anyone else had this problem

I had a similar problem with my power seats in an older BMW 5 series A weak battery can cause weird electrical issues The system protects vital functions, and power seats might be cut off Did you check the battery voltage with a multimeter Also, have you checked the fuses related to the power seats A faulty seat switch could also be the problem but I would first discard the easy options Before replacing the whole seat harness, make sure that all the plugs under the seat are correctly connected

I checked the fuses, and they seem fine I replaced the battery, but the electric seat issue remains Regarding the seat harness and plugs, are there specific points of failure I should look for Is there a common area where the wires might be damaged

Since you've replaced the battery and checked the fuses, it's less likely a simple fix With the BMW, even after replacing the battery, the error needed clearing before the seat worked If the problem persists, it might be a serious issue with the seat adjustment motor or the seat switch The seat harness can get damaged where it bends under the seat It might be worth a workshop diagnosis They can pinpoint the cause, saving time and money

I took it to a trusted workshop, and they confirmed the issue with the seat adjustment motor They replaced it, cleared the error codes, and the power seats are now fully functional The final cost was 290€, but at least the problem is resolved Thanks again for your advice
