Viano fog sensor malfunction and related issues
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Mercedes Viano experienced a malfunctioning fog sensor, leading to an error code, inactive air conditioning, frozen washer nozzles, and non-functional mirror heating. The issue was suspected to be caused by a defective cable or plug, with a repair cost of 95€ considered reasonable. Initial troubleshooting suggested checking the sensor connection for looseness or corrosion. Ultimately, the sensor was found to be defective and was replaced at a workshop, resolving all related issues.

The error code references the fog sensor specifically. Could simply disconnecting and reconnecting the plug be a good first step before replacing the entire sensor?

Since the error code pinpoints the fog sensor, checking the connection is a good first step. The connector could be loose or corroded. Given the related issues, the sensor itself might be faulty. Cleaning the contacts might help temporarily, but a failing sensor will likely cause the issue to return. A workshop visit might be the best way to properly diagnose and resolve the problem.

I took the vehicle to a workshop. The sensor was defective and required replacement. The final cost was in line with the estimate. The dashboard warning is gone, the air conditioning functions, and the mirror heating is restored.

It sounds like a central issue affecting multiple systems. A faulty humidity sensor, integrated with the fog sensor, can disrupt climate control. If the system isn't regulating temperature correctly, frozen washer nozzles and mirror heating could be linked. 95€ sounds reasonable for a wiring or connector issue. Did the error code specifically point to the fog sensor, or was it a general climate control error?
