Viano power window issue after battery change

Holding the switch up didn't work And the window controls are completely dead, no light Is there a specific procedure or tool needed for this re-initialization Or is it a dealer-only thing

Okay, no light at the window switch makes me think it's more than just a simple re-initialization It's possible a fuse blew during the battery swap, so double-check those first If the fuses are good, it might be a deeper car electronics issue needing proper diagnostic tools I hate to say it, but you might be looking at a trip to a workshop They'll likely hook it up to their system and see what's really going on before suggesting parts like the window regulator or tearing into the door panel

You were right, couldn't sort it myself Took it to a local independent, they hooked it up to their diagnostic system Turns out the window regulator needed to be re-initialized via the software and the convenience control module had lost its settings Cost 290€ all in Thanks for the advice

Yep, sounds like the classic window regulator initialization issue after a battery disconnect I've run into this on a few Mercedes, not specifically the Viano but the principle is the same Did you try holding the window switch in the 'up' position for a few seconds after the window is fully closed Sometimes that does the trick Also, does the window switch light up at all when you press it
