Viano Radar Sensor Issue Resolved

My 2004 Mercedes Viano with a gasoline engine has a non-functional radar sensor. This is causing an error message and failure of driving assistance systems. Could a sensor issue cause this widespread failure? Could cleaning the sensor fix it, or is it a more complex repair? Has anyone had sensor issues with adaptive cruise or safety systems?

That sounds familiar I had the same thing happen with my old Vauxhall Astra. Driving assistance went crazy, error messages everywhere. The dealership wanted a fortune to replace the radar unit. It turned out to be a dirty sensor I cleaned with sensor cleaner I got online, and it solved the problem. Maybe check that first before spending big.

Could you elaborate on the cleaner you used and how you cleaned the sensor? What precautions did you take? Were there signs of contamination on the sensor before cleaning, like dirt or oxidation?

I used CRC MAF sensor cleaner from an online store. I sprayed it directly onto the sensor after turning off the car, let it sit, and wiped it with a lint-free cloth. The sensor looked grimy, like it had been through a mud bath. Try cleaning it yourself, but if that doesn't work, take it to a workshop. Better safe than sorry with those sensors.

I inspected the sensor, and it was covered in grime. After cleaning, the error message is gone, and all systems work. The cleaning solution cost 45€. Your advice saved me from a huge repair bill. Thank you for your guidance.
