Viano transmission fault diagnosis and resolution
Summary of the thread
A 2023 diesel Viano exhibited an engine warning light and transmission fault, with error code P0841 indicating a transmission fluid pressure sensor issue. Potential causes included a faulty sensor or low transmission fluid level. The recommended initial step was to check the fluid level. Ultimately, the problem was resolved by replacing the faulty sensor and topping up the fluid, restoring smooth operation.

I haven't checked the oil level myself yet, I wasn't sure where the dipstick was located and what oil I should use. The error code is P0841. Does that change anything?

P0841 does indeed point to the transmission fluid pressure sensor. Given the symptoms and the code, it's likely the sensor itself is faulty, or the oil level is insufficient, as you suspected. Checking the fluid level is the simplest first step. If the level is correct, the sensor is the likely culprit. In either case, it would be prudent to consult a qualified technician for diagnosis and repair. Continuing to drive it in its current state may cause further damage.

I appreciate the help. You were spot on. I took it in, and it turned out the sensor was busted. They replaced it, did a fluid top-up, and cleared the code. Cost me 365€, but it's shifting smoothly again. Cheers!

A transmission oil pressure sensor fault on a 2023 Viano with a diesel engine could stem from a few things, but low oil level is a plausible starting point. Have you checked the oil level yourself? What error code are you seeing specifically? Knowing that code could provide additional clues.
