Vios Oil Pressure Warning
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Toyota Vios owner experienced an oil pressure warning light issue, suspecting oil contamination as the cause. The problem was likely due to exceeding the recommended oil change interval, leading to oil breakdown and reduced lubrication. The solution involved flushing the system and replacing the oil and filter, resolving the warning light issue and preventing potential engine damage.

Oil level seems okay, and I changed it roughly 10000km ago with new filter. Haven't spotted any obvious oil leaks. Could exceeding the maintenance interval cause such a drastic issue with the oil, or should I be looking at something else?

Yes, exceeding the maintenance interval by that much could definitely lead to oil contamination and a drop in oil pressure. It's possible the oil has broken down and isn't lubricating properly. You should probably take it to a workshop to have it checked out before it causes engine damage.

I took your advice and brought it in. Turns out the oil was indeed heavily contaminated due to me pushing the service interval. They flushed the system, replaced the oil and filter, and now the warning lights are gone. Cost me 165€, but better than engine damage. Appreciate the help!

Sounds like you might have an oil pressure issue, possibly caused by the oil contamination. Is the oil level correct? When was the last time you changed the oil and filter? Have you noticed any oil leaks around the engine?
