Vios remote locking and starting issue
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Toyota Vios owner experienced issues with remote locking/unlocking and starting the engine without the key in the ignition. The problem was suspected to be related to the bumper antenna. A suggestion was made to check the antenna cable and plug connection for defects or corrosion. Upon inspection at a workshop, the issue was confirmed to be a faulty connection to the bumper antenna, which was resolved by replacing the antenna, restoring full functionality.

Thanks for the tip! By 'antenna cable and plug connection', do you mean the actual wire running to the antenna in the bumper, or is there something else I should be looking for?

Yeah, the wire running to the bumper antenna itself. On my Astra, it was corroded. If it's that, a new antenna fixed it. But honestly, it's probably worth a quick check at a workshop. They'll diagnose it properly.

Appreciate the advice. I took it to a shop, and you were spot on – it was the cable connection to the bumper antenna. They replaced the antenna for 95€. Everything's working perfectly now, thanks!

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms on my old Opel Astra. Check the antenna cable and plug connection; those can be pretty sensitive. Could be a defective connection.
