Volt Brake Fluid Low
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Chevrolet Volt hybrid owner experienced a strange brake pedal feel and low brake fluid without any warning lights. The issue was likely due to worn brake pads, as low fluid can occur when pads wear down and the fluid fills the space in the master cylinder. While checking for leaks is advisable, the problem was confirmed to be worn brakes, which were repaired by a mechanic.

Thanks. I know worn pads can drop the fluid level, but should I worry about brake line leaks or other hydraulic issues? Or is it likely just the brakes?

It's always wise to check for leaks, but worn pads are probably the cause given your mileage and symptoms. I'd still recommend a professional inspection to be certain. Better safe than sorry.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a mechanic. It was worn brakes, and the repair cost 480€.

I had a similar problem with my Volt. Check your brake pads. Low fluid often happens when the pads wear down. The fluid fills the space in the master cylinder as the caliper pistons extend to compensate.
