Volt Hybrid Acceleration Issues

My 2018 Chevrolet Volt hybrid is showing concerning symptoms at 246812 km. The check engine light is on, and it jerks when accelerating. I'm also hearing a whistling and loud hissing noise during acceleration, sometimes the engine even stalls at idle. Fuel consumption is up, and power is noticeably reduced. Suspect it might be the boost pressure sensor, maybe a defective cable or plug. Anyone else experienced this?

Summary of the thread

A 2018 Chevrolet Volt hybrid is experiencing acceleration issues, including jerking, a check engine light, whistling and hissing noises, increased fuel consumption, and occasional stalling at idle. The suspected cause is a faulty boost pressure sensor or its connections, potentially leading to a boost leak around the intake manifold. The recommended solution is to inspect for boost leaks and have a workshop check the sensor and its connections, which ultimately resolved the issue.

Whoa, that sounds rough! I have a Volt too, though not sure what year, and I had similar symptoms a while back. The hissing and jerking were the worst! It felt like driving a bucking bronco. Have you checked for any obvious boost leaks? Maybe around the intake manifold? A bad boost sensor can definitely cause those issues, since the engine computer relies on that sensor to control the turbo boost.

Boost leaks around the intake manifold, noted. I'll visually inspect the area. But how would a boost leak explain the stalling at idle?

Okay, so a boost leak can cause a lean condition at idle because unmetered air is entering the engine. Basically, the engine computer is adding fuel based on the amount of air it thinks is coming in, but the leak throws everything off. It's all connected! I recommend having a workshop check it out, it's likely the sensor or its connections.

Thanks for the insights! I appreciate the help. Turns out you were right, it was the boost pressure sensor and its connection. Cost me 95€ to get it sorted.
