Volume drift compensation: Engine problems and starting difficulties with 2010 Citroen DS3 - experience and tips wanted
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Citroen DS3 is experiencing engine power loss, check engine light activation, stalling, increased fuel costs, jerking during acceleration, shaking when idling, and starting difficulties. These issues may be related to quantity drift compensation problems, potentially caused by unlearned or improperly tuned injectors. A suggested solution is to have the injectors checked, re-taught, and the control unit reset by a knowledgeable mechanic, as this resolved similar issues in another Citroen model. Seeking a different garage or mechanic with experience in this area is recommended.

Hey, thanks for the reply and for sharing your experience! That sounds really bad about the injectors, I would never have thought that it could cause such symptoms. Do you think you could tell me how much the repair cost you? Has anything else come up since then or has your car been running smoothly since then? It would be great if you could say a bit more about it.

Hey, no problem, always happy to help! Repairing the unlearned injectors saved me €45. I know it sounds like a lot for such a small thing, but after that my car was back to its old self. It hasn't had any problems since. But to come back to your question about volume drift compensation, I had the same thing shortly after the injectors were repaired. I then contacted the mechanic again and it was quickly fixed. It was actually a fault in the system, so it just had to be reset and then everything ran smoothly again. I hope this helps you and everything runs smoothly again! So don't lose heart, everything is possible. Good luck with it!

Hey, thanks for the detailed reply! That really reassures me to hear that it wasn't such a big problem in the end and that your car has been running well ever since. 45€ is a bit of money, but if it means I can drive again without any worries, it's definitely worth it. I'm really glad you shared your experience here. Your information is very helpful for me. I hope that I will also be lucky and that it goes just as well. Now I will look around for another garage and hopefully find a good mechanic. Thanks again and drive safe, guys!

Hey there. I had similar problems with my 2007 Citroen C3 Picasso. In the end, the injectors were not tuned. The problem caused the same symptoms as you mentioned. Some time ago, I took my car to the garage. A friendly mechanic suggested checking the injectors. It turned out that these were indeed the problem. They had to be re-taught and then the control unit reset. It was a serious problem, but it could be fixed. Since then, my car has been running like clockwork again. If I were you, I would check it out and consider another dealership or garage. It could be that your mechanic doesn't have enough experience with this type of problem. Good luck! Keep at it and don't let it get you down!
