Volvo C70 Overheating
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Volvo C70 diesel is experiencing overheating issues, with the check engine light activated. Diagnostics indicate a problem with the active air flap system, specifically the electromechanism. A similar issue in another vehicle was caused by a faulty shutter system affecting airflow to the radiator. The suggested solution is to have the electromechanism repaired at a workshop.

Thanks for the info. You mentioned an air intake fault in your BMW. Can you tell me what specific part failed? I'm trying to see if the cause is similar to the electromechanism problem in my Volvo.

Yeah, with my BMW, it was a faulty shutter system that controls airflow to the radiator. When it got stuck closed, the engine overheated, especially at lower speeds. I was hoping it was a fuse, but no luck. Honestly, with those symptoms and the diagnostic you mentioned, I'd just take it to a workshop. They can probably pinpoint the problem a lot faster.

Thanks. I had it inspected at a workshop. It is the electromechanism, and the repair will cost 590€.

Hey, that sounds eerily familiar. I had a similar overheating problem with my 2012 BMW 3 Series. Check engine light, the whole nine yards. Turned out to be something with the air intake, messing with the cooling system. Have you checked for any fault codes related to the cooling system?
