Volvo C70 Radio Reception Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Volvo C70 is experiencing radio reception issues, with the infotainment system intermittently displaying error messages and the audio system cutting out. An error code related to the antenna circuit suggests a potential defect in the antenna. It is recommended to inspect the antenna ground connection for corrosion or damage, as a poor ground can affect signal reception. Ultimately, replacing the defective antenna resolved the issue.

That's an interesting point. I hadn't considered the antenna ground specifically. Could you elaborate on the location of the ground connection and how to best inspect it on your Astra? Perhaps the design is similar enough to give me a starting point.

On the Astra, the antenna ground was located near the base of the antenna, under the headliner. It was a simple eyelet connector bolted to the body. In my case, there was significant corrosion. Considering the symptoms and error code, I strongly suggest a workshop visit.

Thank you for the suggestion and confirmation. Following your recommendation, I visited a workshop; the antenna was indeed defective. After replacing the antenna, all symptoms disappeared, and the system is working again. The repair cost was 255€.

I had a similar problem with my 2012 Opel Astra. The symptoms were identical: error messages, audio failure, and antenna-related error codes. Have you checked the antenna ground connection for corrosion or damage? A poor ground can significantly affect FM signal reception and introduce static noise.
