Volvo V50 NOx Catalyst and Exhaust Leak

Hi, I have a 2010 Volvo V50 with a gasoline engine. The check engine light is on, and the error memory indicates a problem with the NOx storage catalyst aging. I also noticed some exhaust leaking. Mileage is 185744 km. Could this be related?

Hey, I had a similar issue with my V50. Same symptoms - check engine light and error code related to the NOx catalyst. Did you check for any obvious exhaust leaks before the cat?

Yeah, on mine it turned out to be a cracked flex pipe right before the catalytic converter. A common failure point apparently. Get it checked out by a workshop to confirm. Could be the issue.

Thanks for the tip! Took it to the workshop, and you were right – cracked flex pipe causing the leak. New flex pipe and gasket, total cost 265€. The check engine light is now off. Appreciate the help!
