Volvo V70 Reduced Engine Power
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Volvo V70 with high mileage experienced reduced engine power, jerking during acceleration, and smoke, accompanied by an error code. The issue was suspected to be related to knocking combustion, potentially caused by carbon deposits in the combustion chamber. After confirming the diagnosis, cleaning the deposits resolved the problem, restoring normal engine performance.

Angry marbles is a good description. Fuel octane was according to spec. Could deposits really cause all these issues in my Volvo?

Yep, deposits can mess things up big time. Pre-ignition and piston slap are no joke. With those symptoms and the error code, and considering the mileage, I'd say it's highly likely. You should take it to a workshop. I'd say it's beyond what you can do yourself.

Thanks for the advice. It turned out to be deposits in the combustion chamber, like you said. The cleaning cost me 425€ and everything is fine now.

Sounds nasty! I had similar symptoms with my old Opel Astra, but that was a diesel. Turned out to be a build-up of carbon deposits in the combustion chamber. Made the engine sound like it was full of angry marbles and threw all sorts of codes. Was the fuel octane correct? I was using too low octane.
