Volvo V90 oil pressure warning light
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Volvo V90 owner experienced an oil pressure warning light on the dashboard, suspecting a faulty engine oil temperature sensor or a defective cable connection. The warning light stayed on constantly, indicating a potential issue with the sensor sending incorrect signals. It was advised to tow the vehicle to avoid engine damage. The problem was confirmed to be the cable connection of the engine oil temperature sensor, and the repair was completed successfully.

It stays on constantly, not flickering. If it's indeed the sensor, is it safe to drive to the workshop, or should I call a tow truck to avoid further damage?

If it stays on, it’s more likely the sensor is sending a constant 'low pressure' signal, like a stuck switch. Better to be safe than sorry; a tow is the wiser choice. Get it checked before you risk engine damage.

Thanks for the advice! You were spot on; it was indeed the engine oil temperature sensor, precisely the cable connection. The repair cost me 95€ Much appreciated!

Sounds plausible. When the oil pressure warning light lights up, does it flicker or stay on constantly? A faulty sensor can cause this; it's like having a short circuit that gives wrong readings.
