Voyager Stalling & Misfire: Fuel Pressure Sensor Guide

Thanks for the helpful reply. My Voyager has 71564 KM and had its last major service 3 months ago. The rough idle and stalling started about 2 weeks after that service. The symptoms are consistent regardless of weather conditions. I have noticed the check engine light flickers occasionally, especially during the rough idle periods. The fuel economy has also gotten significantly worse lately. I checked my service records and there hasnt been any fuel system maintenance done during the last service. Your experience with the pressure sensor connection issue sounds very similar to what Im experiencing. Going to have the fuel delivery system properly diagnosed next week. Would also like to know if anyone else had their fuel injectors checked when dealing with similar symptoms?

Thanks for providing those details. My Pacifica had similar mileage when the issues occurred. After your description of the flickering check engine light and poor fuel economy, it reminds me even more of my situation. While the corroded pressure sensor connection was the main culprit in my case, the mechanic did inspect the fuel injectors during diagnosis. They found carbon deposits in two injectors, likely contributing to the engine misfire and rough running. These deposits can develop over time and restrict proper fuel delivery. A fuel system cleaning service was recommended as preventive maintenance, which cost an additional 85€. This helped restore normal fuel economy and eliminated the remaining slight hesitation during acceleration. Based on your symptoms occurring shortly after the service, it might be worth checking if any connections were disturbed during that work. The combination of stalling, rough idle, and engine misfire often points to fuel delivery issues, whether from sensor problems, dirty injectors, or both. Would be interested to hear what your diagnosis reveals next week. Consider asking them to: Test the fuel pressure at different RPMs, Check all sensor connections for corrosion, Inspect injector spray patterns, Verify fuel pump pressure

Thanks for the input. After reading about similar experiences, I feel more confident about the upcoming diagnosis. Just scheduled the appointment and specifically requested they check both the fuel pressure sensor connections and the injectors. The poor fuel economy combined with the engine misfire symptoms does suggest fuel delivery problems. Will make sure they test the entire fuel system including the fuel pump pressure and injector spray patterns as suggested. My main concern is the timing of these issues starting after the recent service. Will definitely mention this to the mechanic to check if any connections were disturbed during that work. The flickering check engine light seems to point toward an electrical issue, possibly similar to the corroded sensor connection described. Will update once I get the diagnosis results next week. Would be great to hear any other experiences with fuel system repairs in the meantime, especially regarding fuel injector maintenance and testing procedures.

Had almost the same problems with my 2002 Pacifica last month, rough idle, engine stalling, and misfiring during acceleration. As someone with moderate experience working on cars, I first thought it was the fuel injector or fuel pump causing these issues. After taking it to the workshop, they found a loose cable connection at the fuel pressure sensor. The connector was corroded and not making proper contact. The intermittent connection was causing incorrect fuel pressure readings, leading to all those symptoms you described. The fix was straightforward, they cleaned the connector, replaced the damaged wiring, and properly secured the connection. Total cost was 95€ for parts and labor. Since then, the engine runs smoothly with no more stalling or rough idle issues. To better assist with your situation, could you share: Current mileage on your Voyager, When did these symptoms first appear, Have you noticed any other warning lights, Any recent fuel system maintenance, Does the problem get worse in wet weather This information would help determine if you are dealing with a similar connection issue or something else in the fuel delivery system.
