Thanks for sharing that experience with your Passat GTE. I had static noise issues and error codes on my Arteon too, just recently sorted it out. The antenna ground connection turned out to be the main culprit causing all those radio interference problems. Did you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the complete fix? Also curious if the signal quality has remained stable since the repair or if any new issues have come up. Always helpful to know the long-term reliability after such a major repair.

Thanks for asking about the repair costs. The antenna repair on my Passat GTE came to 255€ total, including parts and labor. The radio reception has been absolutely perfect since the fix, no more static noise or signal dropouts at all. The car radio now picks up stations clearly even in areas where it previously had poor reception. The signal strength is consistently strong and the annoying interference problems are completely gone. It was definitely worth getting it properly diagnosed and repaired rather than trying temporary fixes. The original antenna ground issues were similar to what you described with your Arteon. Having a certified technician identify and fix the root cause made all the difference. No radio interference problems have returned in the months since the repair.

After reading the comments, I decided to take my Arteon to a certified VW workshop. The experience was totally different from my previous repair attempts. The technician found water damage in the antenna booster, similar to what you described. Getting everything fixed cost me 320€ but it was worth every penny. The signal strength is perfect now, no more static or signal dropouts. Such a relief not having those constant error messages popping up anymore. The repair took about 6 hours since they had to remove parts of the headliner to access the antenna components. They also updated the infotainment software while the car was in, which was a nice bonus. Really glad I asked here before trying another unusual repair shop. The radio interference issues are completely resolved and the FM signal quality is better than when the car was new.

I faced identical radio reception issues with my 2017 VW Passat GTE. The poor signal and constant error messages turned out to be more than just a simple antenna problem. After diagnostic testing, the issue was traced to a faulty antenna booster module, which was causing significant vehicle electronics interference. The original antenna amplifier had corroded connections and water damage, leading to complete signal loss. The repair required: Complete removal of the headliner, Replacement of the antenna booster unit, Installation of new wiring harness, Recoding of the infotainment system This was a serious repair requiring specialized VW diagnostic equipment. The job took nearly a full day at an authorized service center, as they needed to access components deep within the roof structure. The FM signal problems completely resolved after the repair. For VW-specific antenna issues, particularly in newer models with digital systems, its crucial to have the work done at a shop with proper diagnostic capabilities. DIY attempts often lead to damaged trim pieces and incomplete fixes. Would strongly suggest having your Arteon checked by certified technicians who can properly diagnose the antenna system and related electronics.
