VW Caddy Fuel Rail Issues Causing Multiple Failures
Summary of the thread
The conversation centers on a 2020 VW Caddy experiencing stalling at idle and power loss, with the check engine light on. The suspected issue is with the fuel rail, particularly the fuel pressure regulator, which can cause inconsistent fuel supply and engine problems. A similar case with a VW Golf involved replacing the fuel pressure regulator, cleaning fuel injectors, and resetting the engine control module, which resolved the issues. The advice is to conduct a proper diagnostic scan to confirm the problem and address it promptly to prevent further damage.

Thanks for sharing that detailed repair info. Your fuel regulator problem sounds exactly like what I am experiencing with my Caddy. The rough idle and stalling issues are super concerning, especially since the fuel pump and pressure sensor problems can spiral into bigger headaches if left unchecked. Can you share roughly what the total repair cost was for your Golf? Also wondering if you had any recurring issues since getting it fixed? Just trying to budget properly before I take it to the shop.

After getting the fuel pressure regulator replaced, my Golf has been running perfectly with no fuel delivery issues. The repair fully resolved both the stalling and power problems. Total repair costs came to 580€, which included parts, labor, and the 45€ diagnostic fee to clear the error codes after replacing the fuel filter. The fuel efficiency actually improved once the fuel system was working correctly again. The investment was worth it since preventing further damage to the fuel pump and injectors saved money in the long run. A faulty pressure regulator can really strain the entire fuel delivery system if not addressed promptly. My advice would be to get it checked soon, these symptoms typically dont resolve on their own and can lead to more expensive repairs if critical components get damaged from improper fuel pressure regulation.

Thanks for the input. Finally took my Caddy to the shop last week after the stalling got worse. Turned out you were spot on about the fuel pressure regulator being the culprit. The mechanic found the fuel rail pressure was way below spec and the regulator was stuck partially open. Parts and labor came to 620€ total. They also cleaned the fuel injectors while they were at it since there was some carbon buildup. The check engine light is now off and the engine runs smooth again. No more stalling at idle or power loss issues. The fuel efficiency has actually improved quite a bit too. Glad I got it fixed before it caused damage to other components. Really appreciated the heads up about getting it checked quickly. Having the diagnostic info beforehand helped me avoid getting oversold on unnecessary repairs.

Recently had similar symptoms with a 2017 VW Golf TSI. The rough idle and power loss were identical warning signs of a failing fuel pressure regulator in the fuel rail assembly. The fuel system pressure drop triggered multiple error codes. After changing the fuel filter, the system kept showing issues because the fuel pressure sensor was not reading correct values. The main problem turned out to be debris accumulation affecting the fuel regulator performance. The repair required: Full fuel rail inspection, Replacement of the pressure regulator, Cleaning of fuel injectors, Reset of the engine control module This was a serious repair since improper fuel pressure can damage injectors and affect engine timing. The symptoms you describe, stalling at idle and power loss, strongly indicate fuel delivery problems. The pressure regulator controls fuel flow, and when it fails, the engine gets inconsistent fuel supply. Would recommend getting a proper diagnostic scan first. The fault codes will confirm if its the fuel rail pressure regulator causing the issues. This type of repair requires specialized tools and expertise with VW fuel systems.
