VW Caddy Oil Pressure Warning Signals Engine Trouble

My VW Caddy 2023 recently started showing oil pressure warning lights in the speedometer cluster. The engine is still running but I am concerned about potential engine oil contamination. Has anyone experienced similar oil pressure warnings on newer Caddys? Looking for tips on what could be causing this and what repairs were needed to fix it. Would especially like to hear about workshop diagnoses and repair outcomes before taking it in. Engine is gasoline and has been maintained according to schedule with regular oil changes and new oil filters.

Had the exact same issue on my VW Golf 2021 gasoline model a few months back. As someone with moderate experience working on VWs, these oil pressure warnings should never be ignored. The oil pressure warning turned out to be due to an overdue maintenance interval causing oil sludge buildup. After a thorough inspection, my workshop found the oil had degraded significantly, restricting proper flow through the engine. The fix involved: Complete oil change with synthetic oil, New oil filter replacement, Oil system cleaning to remove sludge deposits, Pressure sensor check Total cost came to 165€ and resolved the warning lights completely. Regular oil changes are crucial, old oil can create sludge that restricts flow and triggers these warnings. To help diagnose your specific case, could you share: Current mileage, Last oil change date, Oil color when checking the dipstick, Any unusual engine sounds, Service history details This would help determine if you are facing a similar maintenance-related issue or potentially something different.

Had my last service at 26689km about 3 weeks ago. Just checked the dipstick and noticed the oil color is unusually dark compared to when it was changed. The oil level seems correct, but I am worried about engine damage if I keep driving with the warning light on. No strange engine sounds yet, but the pressure warning appears more frequently during idle. Could this indicate a developing oil leak or sensor malfunction despite the recent maintenance?

Thanks for those details. Since we both have newer VW models, I can relate to your concern about the dark oil color so soon after service. When I faced this on my Golf, the rapid oil darkening combined with pressure warnings was actually a symptom of fuel dilution in the engine oil. The increased frequency of warnings at idle matches what I experienced. In my case, while the oil level stayed correct, the contaminated engine oil lost its ability to maintain proper pressure, especially at lower RPMs. Your symptoms point to potential fuel contamination rather than the oil sludge issue I initially suspected. My mechanic explained that even with regular oil changes, fuel can mix with the oil through various issues like: Faulty fuel injectors, Issues with the PCV system, Excessive short-distance driving The repair in my case required: Analysis of the contaminated engine oil, Replacement of leaking fuel injectors, Fresh oil change, New oil filter, System pressure testing Total cost was 390€ but prevented more serious engine damage. Given your car is still under warranty, I strongly recommend getting it checked at an authorized workshop immediately. The dark oil color combined with pressure warnings suggests active contamination that needs addressing before it causes lasting damage.

Thanks everyone for the insights. Quick update: took the car to the workshop yesterday and their diagnosis confirmed exactly what was suggested, fuel contamination in the engine oil. They found a faulty fuel injector that was allowing fuel to seep into the oil system, especially during idle. The workshop did a complete oil system flush, replaced the problematic injector, and performed a full oil change with new filter. Cost came to 425€ but the oil pressure warning is now completely gone. The fresh engine oil looks properly clear on the dipstick, and pressure readings are back to normal. Really glad I caught this early before it caused more serious engine damage. Will definitely keep monitoring the oil color and pressure readings closely during the next few thousand kilometers to ensure everything stays normal. Thanks again for helping identify the issue, saved me from potentially bigger problems down the road.
