VW Crafter Warning Lights Point to Oil Sensor Issue

Thanks for the input. My Crafter has 129482KM on the clock with the last service completed 2 months ago. The problem started showing intermittently last week but is now constant. No noticeable performance issues so far, which makes me lean towards a sensor issue rather than actual oil signal problems. Will check the wiring connection points first based on your experience before replacing the full engine oil sensor unit.

Thanks for the mileage and timeline details. The constant warnings without performance issues on your Crafter strongly points to sensor-related problems, similar to what my Transporter experienced. The corrosion on my oil sensor wiring developed around the 130000KM mark, and the symptoms progressed from intermittent to constant over about 2 weeks, very similar to your situation. Since your car maintenance is up to date and there are no engine performance issues, checking the wiring first is definitely the smart approach. When my workshop investigated further, they found moisture had seeped into the connection housing over time, causing the oil gauge signal disruption. A good thorough cleaning of the connectors and applying dielectric grease prevented future corrosion after the repair. The diagnostic system stored similar error codes related to the oil monitoring system, which all cleared once the wiring was fixed. Keep us updated on what you find, it would be helpful to confirm if the root cause matches.

Based on your experience, I will start by inspecting the wiring connections to the oil detection system tomorrow. The timeline matches perfectly with your case, first intermittent warnings that became constant within days. Given the similar mileage when the issue appeared and identical symptoms, I am optimistic about finding corroded connections. I will get some dielectric grease and check the sensor wiring housing for moisture damage first. If cleaning and protecting the connections does not resolve the faulty sensor signals, I will proceed with replacing the complete oil gauge unit. The fact that there are no engine performance issues and my recent oil change gives me confidence this is just a monitoring system problem rather than an actual oil pressure concern. Will update the thread once I have checked the connections and hopefully resolved these persistent warning lights. The diagnostic error codes should clear if the wiring fix works as it did in your case.

Having encountered a similar issue with my 2007 VW Transporter diesel, I can share my experience as someone with moderate automotive repair knowledge. The symptoms you describe match exactly what happened to my van, multiple warning lights, oil pressure warnings, and gauge malfunctions. The oil sensor began acting up despite having proper oil levels and regular car maintenance. After diagnostic testing, my workshop found a faulty cable connection to the oil sensor. The plug had corroded over time, causing intermittent signal errors. The repair involved cleaning the connection points and replacing the damaged wiring harness section. Total cost was 95€ for parts and labor. Before jumping to conclusions though, could you share: Current mileage on your Crafter, When the issue first appeared, Whether the warnings come and go or stay constant, If you notice any performance changes This information would help determine if your automotive oil monitoring system has similar underlying issues to what I experienced. While a faulty sensor is likely based on the symptoms, proper diagnosis is important since oil pressure warnings shouldnt be ignored. The repair was straightforward once correctly diagnosed, and the warning lights never returned after fixing the connection.
