VW Eos Cabrio problems again and again the starter does not work
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A 2009 VW Eos Diesel is experiencing starting issues, particularly when cold, along with flickering lights and a warning light on the speedometer. Possible causes include a fault in the vehicle's electrical system, a failing battery, or an alternator not charging properly. Additional considerations are defective glow plugs or a faulty relay. Suggested solutions involve checking the on-board electronics, battery, alternator, and glow plugs at a garage.

Hey, thanks for your answer! My Eos has a 2.0 TDI engine with 186543 km on the clock. The last inspection was about 6 months ago. I will take your advice to heart and have the on-board electronics checked. I hope it will be fixed quickly! Best regards!

Hey, no problem, gladly! With the mileage and the age, it may well be that the vehicle electronics have a fault somewhere. In the case of my Golf, it helped to replace the battery and have the alternator checked. The alternator was no longer quite right and wasn't charging the battery properly. This could also be the case with you. With diesel, the glow plugs or the relay could also be an issue. If one or more glow plugs are defective, the engine will also start more poorly. Perhaps the workshop should check this too. Hopefully you'll soon have it under control again! Keep us up to date, I'd be interested to hear what you find out. Best regards!

Hey, thanks for the additional tips! I'll definitely have the battery and alternator checked when I go to the garage. And I'll also keep the glow plugs and the relay in mind. It's really helpful to know what to look out for before you go there. I'll let you know as soon as I know more! Best regards!

Hey, I had similar problems with my 2007 VW Golf. I also had the same problem with the engine not wanting to start properly when cold and the lights flickering. I have a bit of experience with cars. In my case, it turned out that the problem was caused by a fault in the vehicle's electrical system. Fortunately, I didn't have to pay anything because it was covered by the warranty. My tip: Have the on-board electronics checked at the garage. In my case, they tested everything and found the cause. Then it was quickly fixed. What engine type does your Eos have? Maybe I can help you better that way! Best regards!
