VW EOS Cabrio problems (model year 2012) with the navigation system screen

Hello everyone, the navigation system in my VW Eos Diesel, built in 2015, no longer works. I think it is due to a screen failure. Has anyone had similar problems and can provide tips on how this was resolved? I am curious about your experiences and how your garage solved the problem.

(Translated from German)

Summary of the thread

The navigation system screen in a 2015 VW Eos Diesel has stopped working, suspected to be due to a screen failure. A similar issue in a VW Golf was caused by a defective cable connection between the control unit and the display. The suggested solution is to visit a garage to diagnose and potentially replace the wiring harness, as attempting a DIY fix might worsen the problem. The owner plans to seek professional help to avoid further damage and will update on the outcome.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey, I had a similar problem with my VW Golf Diesel, built in 2013. The cable connection between the control unit and the display was defective, which led to a poor connection and thus to failures. I have some experience with cars and therefore first tried to find the cause myself, but in the end I had to go to the garage. They fixed the problem there for 165 euros. It was done relatively quickly after they replaced the wiring harness and checked the connections. Give more info about your Eos, maybe some more specific tips could help. Did you have any warnings or error messages before? Regards!

Hey, my Eos currently has 219876 km on it. I didn't have any warnings or error messages before, the sat nav just went off in the middle of the journey and now stays black. So it could well be a problem with the cable connection, like yours. Maybe I should go straight to the garage before I tinker around myself and make things worse. Thanks for the tip!

Hey, that really sounds like a similar problem to my Golf back then. With that many kilometers, the wiring could be due for a change. Before you do it yourself and perhaps make it worse, I would also advise you to go straight to the garage. They can quickly measure the whole thing and see whether it's just a simple cable connection or whether the control unit itself is affected. I know that workshop visits are often not cheap, but sometimes you can save yourself a lot of stress and hassle. Keep us posted on what comes out of the diagnosis and how it is resolved! Best wishes and good luck!

Hey, thanks for the confirmation. I think I'll play it safe and make an appointment at the garage. It's probably better than taking the risk of causing more damage. I hope it's just a minor fault with the wiring and nothing major. I'll definitely report back what comes out of the diagnosis and how quickly they were able to fix the problem. Thanks again and best regards!

Hello, I recently bought a VW EOS and I'm having a problem with the navigation. The radio and CD player work, but I don't have any Bluetooth or other options. Is it possible that the map is missing, or what could be the problem? I would appreciate any help! Regards

Check if your navigation system has the latest software and map updates installed. Sometimes, missing features like Bluetooth can be due to outdated software. You can usually find update instructions in your car's manual or on the manufacturer's website. If the issue persists after updating, it might be worth having a professional inspect the system. Let me know how it goes or if you have any further questions!
