VW Eos HVAC System Failure: Dead Blower Motor Alert
Summary of the thread
The conversation centers on a complete failure of the HVAC system in a 2014 VW Eos, with no air flow from the cabin fan and an error code indicating a problem. The issue is identified as a dead blower motor, potentially caused by a faulty resistor pack and damaged wiring. A similar problem was resolved by replacing the blower motor and resistor pack, cleaning debris from the housing, and ensuring proper ventilation. The suggested solution involves checking these components to restore full climate control functionality.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the blower motor issue. My VW Eos ended up having the same problem as yours, completely dead heater fan and no air flow. The mechanic also found a faulty resistor pack along with damaged wiring to the climate control unit. Just wondering, do you remember roughly how much the repair cost in your case? Also curious if youve had any other HVAC system problems since getting it fixed?

Thanks for asking about the repair costs. I ended up paying 365€ for the complete blower motor replacement on my Scirocco. Since the repair was done, the fresh air blower has been working perfectly and the air circulation system performs like new again. The fan speed controller responds smoothly across all settings and I havent experienced any further HVAC issues. The mechanic did a thorough job cleaning out the blower motor housing and checking all the air flow components while doing the repair. Its been about 18 months now and the cabin fan continues to work flawlessly, no more error codes or problems with the climate control system. It was definitely worth fixing since proper ventilation is crucial for comfort and safety. The repair cost was reasonable considering it included both parts and labor for replacing the defective blower motor and associated components.

I finally got my VW Eos fixed yesterday. The repair cost came to 420€ total for replacing the blower motor, fan speed controller, and fixing some damaged wiring in the climate control system. A bit more than I expected but still reasonable considering the amount of work involved. The mechanic showed me the old blower motor, it was completely burned out and there was quite a bit of debris stuck in the housing. They cleaned everything thoroughly while doing the repair. The air conditioning and heating are now working perfectly again, with proper air flow at all fan speeds. Good to know this seems to be a common issue with VWs. At least now I know what to watch out for in the future with the HVAC system. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it really helped me understand what I was dealing with before taking it to the shop.

Had the same issue on my 2011 VW Scirocco. The complete failure of the cabin fan and HVAC system turned out to be a blown blower motor. The electrical wiring connection to the blower motor resistor was damaged, causing the entire air flow system to stop working. Getting it fixed required replacing both the blower motor and the resistor pack since they were interconnected. The mechanic also found some debris blocking the blower motor housing which contributed to its failure. This was a moderate repair job that took about 3 hours at the shop. The air conditioning and heating were fully restored after the repair. While not the most serious issue, leaving it unfixed can be problematic since you lose all climate control functionality. The error code you mentioned is typical when the blower motor fails completely. Would recommend getting it checked soon since driving without proper cabin ventilation can lead to windshield fogging and poor air circulation. The symptoms match exactly what happened with my VW, sudden complete failure rather than gradual decline in air flow performance.
