VW Golf Cabrio starts badly

Hey guys, I have a problem with my VW Golf Diesel, year 2013. The engine light is on, the engine sometimes just stalls, the cold start takes longer than usual, it feels like the engine has less power, runs rough and jerks when accelerating. Sometimes the car won't start at all. Could this be a problem with the fuel pump? Have any of you had similar experiences and can give me tips on how you solved this in the workshop? Many thanks in advance!

Summary of the thread

The conversation centers around a 2013 VW Golf Diesel experiencing starting issues, engine stalling, reduced power, and rough acceleration. The initial suggestion is that the problem might be related to the fuel pump, possibly due to incorrect software values, as a similar issue was resolved by correcting these values in another vehicle. It is recommended to read the error code to identify the specific problem, which could guide the workshop in addressing the issue efficiently.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2011 VW Passat Diesel. I wouldn't call myself a car expert, but I do have a little experience. It turned out that the software values for the fuel pump in my car were incorrect. We corrected the software values in the workshop at the time and it cost 45 euros. That solved my problem and my car has been running as normal ever since. Have you already had the error code read out? This could give you further clues to your problem. Good luck with the repair!

Hey, thanks for the tip! No, I haven't had the error code read out yet, but I'll do that now. It's great that it was only the software in your case. I hope it's the same for me. At my last inspection at 176543 km, the garage didn't find any problems, but that was a while ago. Let's see what comes out now. Thanks again, you've really helped me!

No problem, you're welcome! Yes, then you really were lucky. But of course it could be something else, given the large number of possible faults. I would suggest that you have the error code read out, as this could give you a clue. Then the workshop can look for the problem more specifically. And the frequent stalling of the engine could actually also indicate a problem with the fuel pump. In my case, it was only the software, but that was also a specific issue. Good luck getting it sorted quickly and cheaply. And let me know what you find out!

Yes, you're right, there really could be many different problems. I will definitely have the error code read out and then see what the garage has to say. I really hope that it can be solved as easily as you did. Thanks again for your help and advice. I'll definitely let you know as soon as I have any news. Take care and thanks again!

Hello, Have the injectors, for example, been repaired recently? Because then it could really be that they have not been taught correctly? Have you ever read out the vehicle or had it read out? An error code would help to narrow down the problem further. MFG
