Thanks for sharing your experience. Since my last service was at 115000km, and I currently have 119627km, the issue started quite recently. The battery warning light is not illuminated and all other electrical systems appear normal. The error code displayed is U1234 Window Control Module Communication Error. The battery is original from 2023, and I have noticed the windows occasionally operating slower than usual in the weeks before this complete failure. I will get it checked professionally since the power window system seems to need proper diagnosis. Worth noting that removing fuses and reconnecting them did not resolve the window regulator issues either.

Thanks for providing those additional details about your Golf. Your symptoms sound different from what I experienced with my Passat, despite the similar window control failures. Since your battery is relatively new and other electrical systems are working normally, the window troubleshooting may need to focus on the window control module itself. In my case, the failing battery caused widespread electrical issues. Your situation appears more isolated to the window systems, and that error code U1234 specifically points to communication problems with the window control module rather than a power supply issue. The gradually slowing window operation you noticed is an important clue that I did not experience. This progressive failure pattern often indicates either: A failing window control module, Wiring harness issues between modules, Corroded window switch connections When the workshop fixed my window regulator initialization problems, they mentioned these are common failure points specific to window controls in VW models. Given your mileage and symptoms, I suggest having them check these components first. The fix may require replacing the control module and performing a complete window reset procedure. For my Passat, the module replacement and programming cost around 450€, though prices can vary significantly based on parts availability.

I appreciate all the detailed feedback and comparison to your Passat experience. Your situation does seem different since it was battery-related, while mine appears more focused on the window control module itself. The symptoms in my Golf Hybrid have remained the same, complete window system failure with error code U1234, though all other car electronics continue working normally. I have scheduled a workshop appointment for next week to have them diagnose the window controls and door panel systems properly. The gradual slowing of the windows before complete failure that I experienced does align with what you mentioned about possible control module issues. Given that my car is still relatively new with the original battery and only 119627km on the odometer, I suspect your theory about the window control module or wiring being the culprit is correct. I will make sure to have them specifically check the components you mentioned: Window control module, Wiring harness connections, Window switch contacts Once I get the final diagnosis and repair completed, I will update this thread with the actual cause and repair costs to help others with similar window troubleshooting issues.

I had a very similar issue with my 2021 VW Passat Hybrid last winter where all car electronics related to windows suddenly failed, including the window switch functions. The window reset procedure did not work for me either. After some basic troubleshooting, I took it to the workshop where they diagnosed a failing battery that was causing electrical system issues. The weak battery was affecting multiple car electronics systems, including the window controls. The total repair cost was 290€ for replacing the battery and resetting all electrical systems. The technician explained that hybrid vehicles can be particularly sensitive to battery health since theyage complex electrical systems. After the battery replacement, they had to perform a complete window reset procedure on all door panels to reinitialize the window controls. Could you share: Whether your battery warning light is on, If other electrical systems are also acting unusual, The exact error code you are seeing, Current battery age and maintenance history This information would help determine if your issue matches what I experienced with my Passat. While I have some experience with basic car maintenance, electrical issues like this are best diagnosed by professionals with proper diagnostic tools.
