Last service was done at 108000km and mechanic found no electrical issues then. Since others asked, the problem occurs more on the right turn signal and started about 2 weeks ago. The broken lens on the right side might be letting moisture in, possibly causing the electrical fault with the flasher relay. No other systems seem affected yet. Will get it checked at a workshop this week to prevent any further issues.

Thanks for the additional details. Based on your mention of moisture intrusion through the broken lens, this matches what I eventually discovered with my similar case. Automotive lighting problems often cascade when water gets into the system. The moisture entering through the damaged turn indicator housing likely corroded the bulb contacts and possibly the wiring harness. While my initial diagnosis focused on the flasher relay, the root cause was indeed water damage to the lamp assembly. A complete fix should include: Replacing the broken lens assembly, Checking and replacing corroded bulb sockets, Testing the entire wiring harness for that circuit, Verifying flasher relay function, Clearing the error codes My repair ended up needing both bulb replacement and partial wiring repair. The total cost was higher than initially quoted at 180€, but solving it properly prevented more extensive electrical issues later. Important: Make sure the workshop thoroughly dries any moisture and applies connector sealant during reassembly. This prevents future corrosion issues with the turn signal system.

The broken lens on my right turn signal definitely seems to be the root cause here. I just inspected it more closely and found significant water damage around the signal lamp housing. This explains the intermittent electrical fault and error messages. After reading about similar cases, I will have the workshop replace the entire lamp assembly rather than just fixing the lens. Better to address all potential issues with the automotive lighting system at once. Will also ask them to check the wiring harness and flasher relay while they are at it. Thanks for sharing your repair experience. The quoted 180€ seems reasonable considering the work needed. I will schedule the repair tomorrow to prevent any additional electrical damage from moisture exposure. Hopefully this resolves both the turn signals and the warning light in the speedometer display.

As a hobby mechanic with some experience, I had a very similar issue with my VW Polo from 2001. The symptoms you describe match exactly what I encountered, faulty turn indicators and warning lights in the speedometer display. After checking various electrical components, my workshop found a loose cable connection near the flasher relay. The signal lamp wiring had deteriorated over time, causing intermittent electrical faults in the indicator light system. The repair involved replacing damaged wiring and securing all connections properly, costing 95€ in total. The fix was relatively straightforward once the actual problem was identified, but proper diagnostic equipment was needed to pinpoint the exact location of the fault. To help troubleshoot your specific case, could you provide: Exact engine type, Mileage, Whether the issue occurs more frequently when turning left or right, If any other electrical components are affected, When the problem first started This information would help determine if your Lupo has the same underlying issue mine had.
