My VW Nivus has now reached 103633km and is due for service next week. After getting the crash sensor thoroughly checked, it turned out to be much simpler than expected. The diagnostic revealed a loose connection in the wiring harness under the driver seat. This is apparently a known issue affecting vehicle safety in several VW models. The workshop managed to fix it by properly securing and cleaning the connection points, no replacement parts needed. Total cost came to 65€ for diagnostics and repair. The airbag warning light is now off and the system shows all clear on the latest scan. Good to have proper automotive safety restored without major airbag repair work. For reference, I did the diagnostic with a certified VW specialist who noted this issue typically shows up around the 100000km mark in similar models.

Thanks for the update on the airbag warning light issue. Had the exact same problem with my Nivus at around 98000km. The crash sensor wiring harness under the driver seat seems to be a common weak point in these models. For the benefit of others who might face similar restraint system warnings, the relatively low repair cost of 65€ shows that not all airbag warning lights indicate serious system failures. Sometimes its just connection issues that can affect proper airbag deployment signals. Good call getting it checked by a certified specialist. They understand these automotive safety quirks and can properly diagnose whether its a simple wiring fix or something more serious requiring full airbag repair. Keep an eye on the connection during future services. These harness issues can sometimes recur due to seat movement and vibration over time. Worth mentioning this to your regular service technician during routine maintenance checks.

Thanks everyone for the helpful insights. Just wanted to close this thread with my final experience in case others search for similar airbag sensor problems. After 103633km, the issue was indeed just a loose wiring harness connection under the driver seat, affecting the crash sensor readings. The fix was straightforward, no parts replacement needed, just proper cleaning and securing of connections. Total cost was 65€ for diagnostic and repair work. What I learned about vehicle safety from this: Not all airbag warning lights indicate major system failures, Proper diagnostic tools are essential for accurate troubleshooting, These connection issues commonly appear around 100000km, Regular inspection of the wiring harness during service is important for automotive safety, Professional airbag repair specialists can quickly identify if its a simple fix or serious issue The car now shows all clear on diagnostics with no warning lights. Will definitely have the connection points checked during future services to ensure reliable airbag deployment. Hope this helps others with similar warning light problems.

Based on my experience with a 2019 VW T-Cross that had a similar SRS light issue, I can share some insights since I dealt with this a few months back. The restraint system warning light in my car also stayed on constantly. After checking with my workshop, they found it was related to a faulty cable connection in the airbag sensor system. The total repair cost was 95€, which included diagnostic work and fixing the connection. For automotive safety reasons, its crucial not to ignore these warnings. My mechanic explained that loose or damaged wiring in the airbag system can cause false readings and potentially affect proper airbag deployment. Before suggesting specific solutions, could you share: Has the car been in any minor accidents or bumps recently? Were there any repair works done before the light appeared? Did you notice any other electrical issues? Do you have access to an OBD scanner to read the specific error codes? This information would help determine if your issue is similar to what I experienced with the cable connection problem. Remember that airbag-related issues should always be handled by qualified professionals who have the right diagnostic tools and expertise.
