Thanks for the quick reply and the helpful tips! My Passat now has 89521 km on the clock. I had the last service done about three months ago. So, I'm thinking of a software update as you suggested. I hope that solves the problem. Do you have any more ideas? Many thanks in advance!

Hi, no problem, I'm happy to help. With these kilometers and the last service you had three months ago, it could really be the software. I would definitely recommend that you check the software first and have it reprogrammed if necessary. However, these symptoms can also have other causes. In my car, the EGR valve was once blocked. It caused similar problems to your Passat. The garage cleaned the valve and that also helped. That might also be a solution for you, especially if the car hasn't been running properly for a while. Please come back here and let us know how it went. Good luck!

Hi, thanks for the additional tips. I will also keep the EGR valve in mind and talk to the garage about it. I hope after the software has been updated and the valve checked, there will be no further problems. I'll definitely get back to you after my workshop visit and let you know what happened. Thanks again for your help!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2003 VW Golf. I'm not a car professional, but I do have a bit of experience. My garage diagnosed that the software values for the fuel pump were wrong. After reprogramming the software, my car ran like clockwork again. That cost me about 45 euros. Can you give me more information about your Passat, e.g. how many kilometers it has already driven and when you were last in the workshop? That might help me to answer you more clearly. I hope this helps you a little!
