VW Phaeton Engine Misfiring During Acceleration

Thanks for sharing your experience. I had pretty much the exact same symptoms with my Phaeton, the check engine light, rough running and power loss. My mechanic also found multiple issues with the fuel system. Was the total repair cost on your Passat very high? Curious if you have had any combustion misfire issues since getting it fixed? Mine has been running perfectly for 6 months now but I am keeping a close eye on the fuel pressure and injection timing.

After getting my Passat properly repaired, I have not experienced any engine misfiring or rough idle issues. The repairs fixed the combustion misfires that were detected during diagnostics. My total repair cost was 515€ for replacing the defective fuel injector, which was causing the uneven fuel delivery. The check engine light has stayed off and the engine runs smooth now, with none of the previous jerking or power loss. The fuel pump and injection system are working as they should. Regular maintenance and quality fuel have helped prevent any recurring problems. The investment was worth it since ignoring failing injectors often leads to more expensive engine repairs down the line. Good to hear your Phaeton is also running well after fixing similar issues. Monitoring fuel system performance is smart preventive maintenance.

I finally took my Phaeton to a specialized VW workshop after dealing with those frustrating misfiring symptoms. The mechanic found multiple clogged fuel injectors and one bad ignition coil causing the rough idle and power issues. Total repair cost came to 780€, which included new injectors, coil replacement, and a thorough fuel system cleaning. The engine now runs perfectly smooth with no jerking or hesitation during acceleration. It was definitely worth finding a qualified specialist rather than risking more damage at my previous mechanic. Regular maintenance checks help ensure the fuel delivery system stays in good shape. Will monitor how it performs over the next few months, but so far the repair has completely resolved the engine misfiring problems. Really glad I addressed it promptly before it led to more serious engine damage.

Had similar issues with my 2009 VW Passat last winter. The symptoms match exactly what you describe, rough engine performance, reduced throttle response, and jerking during acceleration. After diagnostics, it turned out multiple fuel injectors were clogged and one was completely failed. The engine misfiring was caused by uneven fuel delivery. When one injector fails, that cylinder receives improper fuel mixture, leading to incomplete combustion. In my case, this also damaged two spark plugs and an ignition coil. This required: Replacing all fuel injectors, New spark plugs installation, Replacing one faulty ignition coil, Full fuel system cleaning This was a serious issue that needed immediate attention. Continuing to drive with faulty injectors risks additional engine damage. The repairs took two full days at the shop, but the improvement in performance was dramatic. The engine ran smoothly again with proper throttle response. Would strongly recommend getting it checked soon, as these symptoms typically worsen over time. Consider finding a VW specialist who can properly diagnose and repair fuel injection systems.
