Thanks for sharing your experience with the wiring harness issue. I was actually looking into getting this fixed on my Scirocco soon. Sounds like I might have a similar problem since my flasher relay keeps acting up and the speedometer errors match your description exactly. Did you track the repair costs? Would help me budget for the fix. Also curious if any other electrical fault issues have popped up since the repair was done? Sometimes these turn indicator problems can be early warning signs of other issues.

Good news, just had the repair completed last week on my Golf GTI and all electrical issues are now resolved. The turn signal lamp problems and speedometer errors completely disappeared after fixing the faulty cable connection. My mechanic found it was indeed a damaged connector causing the electrical fault, similar to what you described with your Scirocco. The total repair cost came to 95€, which included diagnosing the exact location of the wiring issue and replacing the defective connection. This was actually less expensive than initially replacing the entire indicator light assembly, which some shops might suggest as a first solution. Since the repair, every electrical component has worked flawlessly, no more intermittent signal lamp failures or instrument cluster errors. The automotive lighting system functions perfectly now. Based on my experience, addressing these electrical issues promptly is crucial to prevent more extensive problems from developing. My only recommendation would be to ensure your mechanic thoroughly checks all nearby connections while doing the repair, as water exposure can affect multiple points in the wiring harness.

Finally got my Sharan sorted last week. After reading about your experience, I found a recommended auto electrician who actually knew what they were doing. The flasher relay was indeed the main culprit, along with some corroded wiring near the turn indicator assembly. Total repair cost came to 320€ including: Full electrical diagnostic scan, New flasher relay unit, Signal lamp wiring repair, Labor costs The whole job took about 3 hours. The electrical fault codes are now gone and all indicators work perfectly. No more dashboard warnings or intermittent signal lamp issues. Really relieved to have this sorted properly after my previous frustrating mechanic experience. For anyone facing similar problems, getting a proper electrical diagnosis first definitely saves money in the long run. Glad I didn't just keep replacing bulbs like the first shop suggested.

Had the same issue on my 2012 VW Golf GTI. The signal lamp malfunction turned out to be more than just a broken lens or bulb replacement. The diagnostic showed similar error codes, and initially, mechanics also suggested replacing the indicator light assembly. The actual problem was a damaged wiring harness connector behind the front bumper. The cable insulation had worn through, causing intermittent electrical faults affecting both the speedometer and lighting system. These symptoms are common in this VW platform, especially when water seeps into the compromised connection. The fix required accessing the main wiring loom, replacing the corroded connector, and resealing the housing. This was a moderate repair that took about 3 hours of labor. Worth noting that temporary fixes like replacing just the bulb or turn signal lamp assembly would not solve the root cause. This electrical issue should be addressed promptly as it can affect other systems over time. The speedometer error message is often linked to the same wiring problem, not necessarily a separate issue. The repair restored all automotive lighting functions and cleared the instrument cluster errors permanently.
