Thanks for sharing your experience. Sounds exactly like what I dealt with last year. My Scirocco had similar symptoms and it turned out the purge valve was stuck open, causing those nasty idle issues. The check engine light would come on every few days. After swapping the faulty purge valve and doing a full emission system check, the problems cleared up. Repair was straightforward once diagnosed correctly. Do you remember roughly what you paid for the full repair? Also curious if youve had any related issues pop up since getting it fixed.

Just got back from having my Golf GTI serviced last week. The repair shop cleared the clogged hoses in the EVAP system which completely fixed the tank ventilation valve malfunction. Total cost was 175€ for cleaning and testing the entire vapor management setup. Since the repair, the engine idles perfectly and the check engine light has stayed off. The fuel tank pressure is now properly regulated and the purge valve is working as intended. No more stalling issues at traffic lights or problems with the emission system. Worth mentioning that proper diagnosis of EVAP system issues really needs specialized testing equipment. Getting it fixed by qualified technicians prevents repeated issues with fuel vapor management. My car runs like new now and has passed all system checks since the repair.

I finally took my Scirocco to a certified VW specialist after dealing with those annoying stalling issues. Turns out both you and my initial suspicions about the EVAP system were spot on. The automotive repair shop found the purge valve was stuck, causing the tank ventilation problems. The mechanic used proper diagnostic equipment to test the entire fuel tank system and pressure sensor setup. The repair cost came to 250€, which included replacing the faulty parts and a complete system check. Definitely worth finding a qualified shop instead of risking another botched repair job. The car runs perfectly now, no more check engine lights or stalling. Really glad I got the emission system properly diagnosed instead of trying quick fixes. Thanks for helping me narrow down the problem. Its been 3 months since the repair and everything is still working as it should.

Had the same problem with my 2019 VW Golf GTI. The engine light came on repeatedly and the car would stall at traffic stops. After checking the EVAP system, found multiple issues with the tank ventilation components. The main culprit was clogged vapor lines between the charcoal canister and the pressure sensor. The EVAP system could not properly handle fuel vapors, causing irregular idle and triggering the engine light. Also discovered the gas cap wasnt sealing properly, which made the problem worse. The repair involved cleaning the entire vapor management system, replacing damaged hoses, and installing a new pressure sensor. While not immediately dangerous to drive with, these EVAP system issues can lead to failed emissions tests and worse fuel economy over time. Would suggest finding a shop that specializes in VW fuel systems. The repair requires specific diagnostic tools to properly test the tank ventilation components. Once fixed, the idle problems disappeared completely and the engine light has stayed off.
