VW Scirocco SRS Light Problem: Airbag Warning Alert

Last serviced 2 weeks ago and issue appeared yesterday. No other warning lights are active, and I have had no work done near the airbag sensors. The SRS light came on while driving normally on a smooth road. My dealer could not fit me in until next week. Thanks for mentioning the potential loose connection. I will have them check the wiring first before replacing the entire airbag sensor. Good to know it might not require extensive airbag repair. Will update once I get the diagnosis.

Thanks for the update about your Scirocco's SRS light situation. Since your issue appeared without any obvious trigger like mine did, and given the timing after your service, there could be a connection. In my case with the Golf, I actually discovered the service technician had accidentally disturbed a wiring connector while doing routine maintenance under the dash. The restraint system is sensitive to even slight connection issues, which is why the automotive safety system triggers warnings so quickly. Since no other warning lights are active and the issue appeared suddenly, this reinforces my initial thought about it being a connection problem rather than a failed airbag sensor. When I faced this, the diagnostic process was pretty straightforward, the technician first checked all the accessible connectors before moving on to more complex tests. While waiting for your dealer appointment, avoid having passengers in the front seat as the passenger airbag system might not function correctly. The SRS light indicates the vehicle safety system needs attention, even if its just a minor issue like in my case. Looking forward to hearing what they find. Hopefully its just a simple fix like mine was and not a more extensive airbag repair.

Thanks for sharing your experience with a similar SRS light issue. Your case gives me hope this might be a simple fix, especially since my Scirocco hasnt had any obvious triggers like accidents or major bumps. I checked with my dealership again and managed to get an earlier appointment for tomorrow morning. The service advisor mentioned they will first inspect all crash sensor connections and wiring before assuming its a faulty component. They quoted a basic diagnostic fee of 80€, which seems reasonable considering the safety implications. I have been avoiding using the passenger seat as suggested, just to be on the safe side until the automotive safety system is fully checked. Will definitely post an update once I get the diagnosis results and know the full extent of any needed airbag repair. Good to know there might be a connection to the recent service work. I will mention this to the technician tomorrow to help narrow down the potential causes. Thanks again for the helpful insights about your experience.

I had a similar car safety issue with my 2010 VW Golf diesel. As someone with some hands-on experience maintaining cars, I understand your concern about the SRS light, since it directly affects vehicle safety. The airbag warning lamp in my case was also illuminated constantly. After checking several online resources about airbag recall notices (which turned out not to be the cause), I took it to my regular workshop. The diagnosis revealed a loose cable connection at the driver side airbag sensor. The total repair cost was 95€, which included diagnostic time and fixing the connection. The SRS light issue with these VW models is often related to wiring or sensor connections rather than the airbag units themselves. However, since automotive safety systems are complex, its important to have it properly diagnosed. To provide more specific advice, could you share: Have you had any recent work done near the airbag sensors? Did the light appear after hitting a bump or pothole? Are there any other warning lights active? Have you checked if your vehicle is affected by any airbag recall campaigns? Without proper diagnosis, its best not to drive the car extensively, as compromised airbag functionality could affect occupant safety in case of an accident.
