Thanks for the detailed explanation of the temperature sensor repair. I had pretty much the exact same issue on my Sharan last summer, faulty HVAC sensor and wonky climate control behavior. Just wondering how much you ended up paying for the complete fix? My repair bill seemed a bit steep at the time. Also curious if youve had any other temperature control problems since getting it repaired? Im planning to get mine checked again soon since the AC performance hasnt been quite right lately, even after the sensor replacement.

Great news, since getting my Tiguan checked by the mechanic, the faulty interior temperature sensor issue was completely resolved. The repair was actually quite reasonable at 95€, which covered fixing a damaged cable connection to the HVAC sensor component. The temperature control system has been working flawlessly since the repair. No more climate issues or error codes showing up on the display. The AC performance returned to normal once the sensor was properly communicating with the climate control module again. If your AC still isnt performing right after the sensor replacement, you might want to have the technician check the wiring connections again. Sometimes temperature sensor problems can return if all the connecting points werent properly secured during the initial repair. A proper fix of the sensor issues should restore full climate control functionality. Make sure they verify all sensor connections are secure when you take it in for the follow-up check.

Thanks for the input. I finally got my Sharan fixed last week. The repair cost was 120€ total, definitely better than I expected after reading about others experiences. The mechanic found the climate control module had a loose connection causing the temperature reading to be off. They also cleaned the HVAC sensor contacts while checking the system. The whole repair only took about 2 hours. Everything is working perfectly now. The AC blows cold again and the automatic temperature control maintains the right cabin temperature. No more error codes on the display either. Really glad I got this sorted before summer. The mechanic did a thorough job checking all the connections, so hopefully the climate control system stays reliable this time around.

Had a similar temperature control malfunction on my 2013 VW Tiguan last winter. The climate issues started with inconsistent temperature readings and eventually the whole HVAC sensor system failed. The diagnostic revealed two problems: a faulty interior temperature sensor and corroded wiring connections to the climate control module. These components work together for proper climate regulation. When they fail, the system cannot accurately measure cabin temperature, leading to AC failure and error codes. The repair involved replacing the temperature sensor unit and repairing the damaged wiring harness connections. This was a moderate repair that took about 4 hours in the shop. While not a severe mechanical issue, it required specialized diagnostic equipment to properly identify the failing components. Important to know: Make sure the repair shop thoroughly checks both the sensor and wiring connections. Some technicians only replace the sensor without addressing potential wiring issues, which can lead to recurring problems with the temperature control system. This is a known weak point in VW climate control systems from that generation. Getting it fixed properly the first time prevents repeated workshop visits.
