VW Sharan Emergency Call System Failure Alert

My 2013 VW Sharan diesel is showing multiple error messages and warning lights in the instrument cluster. The main concern is a possible emergency call system malfunction. Has anyone experienced similar issues with their call failure system? The diagnostic codes are stored in the error memory but I would like to understand what fixes were successful in your case before heading to a workshop. Did you need a complete system reset or was there a simpler solution? Looking for guidance on what to check and potential repair costs.

As someone with moderate experience working on VW vehicles, I encountered a similar telematics issue on my 2015 VW Touran diesel. The emergency call system failure and multiple warning lights appeared suddenly during a routine drive. After checking the error codes, the problem turned out to be a faulty wiring connection to the SOS signal module. The workshop found that moisture had caused corrosion in one of the main connector plugs, leading to intermittent car safety system failures. The fix involved cleaning the connector terminals and replacing a damaged section of the wiring harness. Total repair cost was 95€, including diagnostic work. The car safety systems have worked flawlessly since then. Before suggesting specific solutions for your case, could you share: The exact error messages you are seeing, Whether the issue appears consistently or intermittently, If you notice any pattern when the warnings occur (wet weather, cold starts, etc.), Have you had any recent work done on the electrical systems This information would help determine if your issue matches what I experienced or points to a different problem within the emergency call system.

Thanks for sharing that experience. For reference, my last service was done at 30204km, and the mechanic did a complete electrical system check with no issues found. Interestingly, these warning lights started appearing right after that service. The main error reads Failure emergency call system with a yellow warning light. Its happening consistently now, but started as an intermittent issue about 2 weeks ago. No correlation with weather conditions that I could notice. My concern is that the diagnostic codes point to a potential SOS signal module fault, but given the timing after the service, I wonder if a system reset might resolve it before replacing expensive components. Would appreciate hearing if anyone else had the warning lights clear up after a reset procedure or if component replacement was ultimately needed.

Based on the timing of your issues starting right after the service, this definitely sounds similar to what I experienced with my Touran. After investigating further with my case, we discovered the technician had accidentally disturbed the SOS module connections during the routine electrical check. A simple system reset did not fix the automotive electronics in my case, despite initially hoping it would solve the telematics malfunction. The persistent warning lights were actually helpful in pinpointing the root cause, a partially disconnected plug that was causing the call failure warnings. The diagnostic codes suggesting an SOS module fault can be misleading. In my experience, the module itself was perfectly fine, the error was triggered by poor connection quality. I would recommend having the workshop specifically check: All connector plugs to the SOS module, The integrity of the wiring harness near recent service areas, The ground connection points Given the service timing correlation, there is a good chance this is a connection issue rather than a failed component. The repair cost should be much lower if thats the case, likely under 120€ for diagnostic and reconnection work. The car safety system is designed to throw these warnings at the first sign of communication issues, which is actually a good failsafe feature, even if temporarily annoying.

Thank you all for the suggestions. After taking these insights back to my workshop, they found a similar situation, a loose connection that was disturbed during the recent service. The control module was sending fault codes due to an incomplete circuit rather than actual component failure. The technician cleaned and properly reseated all the connectors around the emergency call system. They also performed a system reset once the connections were verified. Total cost was 85€ for diagnostic work and repair. All warning lights are now off and the call failure warnings have not returned in the past week. For anyone facing similar issues, definitely have the connections checked first before replacing expensive components, especially if the problems started after recent service work. This has been really helpful in understanding how the car safety systems operate and interact. Will make sure to specifically request checking all connections after future service work to prevent this from happening again.
