VW Sharan Indicator Light Fault Needs Urgent Fix

Can anyone help with indicator light troubles on my 2018 VW Sharan diesel? Getting error messages on the dash and the signal lamp is acting up. The electrical fault shows up in the computer scan. My previous mechanic visit left me unsure about trusting their work. Has anyone dealt with similar issues? Car has 130284km on it. Mainly concerned about potential repair costs and finding a reliable fix for the broken lens or faulty wiring. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Having faced a similar electrical issue with my 2015 VW Touran TDI, I understand the signal lamp problems well. The fault turned out to be more than just a broken lens or lamp replacement need. The main problems were: Corroded connector pins in the turn indicator assembly, Damaged flasher relay unit, Wiring harness wear near the door hinge The fix required: 1. Complete diagnosis of the automotive lighting system 2. Replacement of the flasher relay 3. Repair of the wiring harness 4. Cleaning and resealing of all electrical connections This was a serious electrical issue that affected the entire indicator system. The computer scan initially pointed to a simple bulb fault, but deeper inspection revealed the underlying wiring problems. Without proper repair, these issues can lead to complete turn signal failure or potential electrical shorts. Best approach is getting a full electrical diagnostic test done, as surface-level fixes often miss the root cause. The repair took about 4 hours of labor with specialized electrical testing equipment.

Thanks for your detailed explanation about the turn signal problems. Your solution seems really thorough and matches what my mechanic suggested. Did you remember roughly how much you paid for all those repairs? Also curious if you had any recurring issues with the automotive lighting system since getting it fixed? My VW Sharan has similar symptoms with the flasher relay acting up, so trying to budget for potential repair costs.

Got my Touran back from the electrical repair shop last week, and I am glad to report the turn signal issue is completely resolved. The total came to 95€, which covered fixing a faulty cable connection in the indicator assembly. This was much simpler than initially feared, no need for extensive lamp replacement or major electrical work. The signal lamp now works perfectly, with no warning messages on the dash. Looking back, the electrical fault was less complex than my mechanic first thought. Since the repair, the automotive lighting system has performed flawlessly. No flickering, no error codes, and the turn signals work consistently. Worth noting the mechanic found the problem quickly through proper diagnostic testing. Sometimes these electrical issues seem worse than they actually are, but proper diagnosis is key to avoiding unnecessary repairs.

Finally got my Sharan sorted last week. After reading about your experience, I found a recommended auto electrician who actually knew what they were doing. The flasher relay was indeed the main culprit, along with some corroded wiring near the turn indicator assembly. Total repair cost came to 320€ including: Full electrical diagnostic scan, New flasher relay unit, Signal lamp wiring repair, Labor costs The whole job took about 3 hours. The electrical fault codes are now gone and all indicators work perfectly. No more dashboard warnings or intermittent signal lamp issues. Really relieved to have this sorted properly after my previous frustrating mechanic experience. For anyone facing similar problems, getting a proper electrical diagnosis first definitely saves money in the long run. Glad I didn't just keep replacing bulbs like the first shop suggested.
