Thanks for sharing that detailed fix for the suspension failure. Mine turned out similar with the faulty wiring and control module issues. The shock absorber system is now working perfectly after the repair, and car handling is back to normal. My mechanic did mention these problems are pretty common in VW models from that period. Do you remember roughly how much you paid for the complete fix? Also curious if youve had any other suspension related problems since getting it repaired?

Very glad to hear your shock absorber issue got resolved similarly to mine. Since seeing my mechanic, the damping adjustment fault was completely fixed and hasnt returned in over two years of driving. The repair was straightforward, just 95€ to fix a faulty cable connection to the suspension control module. The vehicle suspension is working flawlessly now with no other problems. The ride comfort returned to normal immediately after the repair. Its worth mentioning that proper diagnosis of suspension system faults is crucial, in our cases the issue was electrical rather than mechanical, which saved significant repair costs. If your car starts showing any new damping control warnings, get it checked promptly to prevent wear on other suspension components. But from my experience, once the wiring issue is properly fixed, the problem rarely returns.

Thanks for the helpful advice. After taking the car back to a different specialist mechanic, they found the exact same wiring issue mentioned. The total repair came to 140€ which included a full diagnostic test and fixing the damaged connection to the damping control unit. The suspension system is working perfectly now, no more warning lights and the ride is smooth again. Really relieved it wasnt a major mechanical failure requiring shock absorber replacement. My mechanic did a thorough job testing all the suspension components to ensure there wasnt any additional wear. The whole repair took about 3 hours while they traced the fault and replaced the corroded wiring. Money well spent considering how much better the car handles now. Will definitely keep an eye on any future suspension warning lights, but hopefully this fix will last like others have experienced.

Having experienced similar suspension system issues with my 2014 VW Touran 2.0 TDI, I can confirm this is a known problem. The vehicle suspension warning appeared alongside deteriorating ride comfort, particularly noticeable on uneven roads. The root cause was a faulty wiring connection to the damping control module. The symptoms matched exactly, bumpy ride, warning light, and error codes in the system. This requires proper diagnostic equipment to pinpoint the exact location of the connection failure. The repair involved: Complete testing of the suspension control module, Replacement of corroded wiring harness connectors, Recalibration of the damping control system, Full system reset to clear error codes This was not a quick fix job, the entire process required specialized VW diagnostic tools and precise work to ensure proper connection restoration. While not immediately dangerous, continuing to drive with faulty damping control can lead to premature wear of suspension components. For reference, the wiring issues often affect the entire VAG range from this era, particularly models with adaptive suspension systems. A certified VW specialist should perform a full suspension diagnostic to verify the exact point of failure.
