Thanks for sharing your experience with the ABS issues. My Suran Spacefox had similar input problems last year and I also got both the sensor and ECM replaced. Really relevant to my situation. Was wondering, can you remember what the final repair cost was? Also, has everything been working properly since the fix? No warning lights or additional sensor malfunctions? This information would be super helpful since the speedometer in my car is starting to act up again and I want to know if I should expect any related issues.

Good news, since getting the repairs done, my Golf GTI has been running perfectly with no dashboard warning lights or speedometer issues. The ABS sensor now sends stable signals and the new control unit processes everything correctly. The total repair came to 1000€ for parts and labor, mainly due to the malfunction in the control unit which required complete replacement. The investment was worth it since the car now maintains proper traction control and the odometer readings are accurate. No additional sensor problems have emerged in the months since the fix. The ABS system engages smoothly when needed and the speedometer displays consistent readings. If your speedometer is acting up, definitely get it checked soon since these issues can cascade into bigger problems with various vehicle systems. Looking back, going to a qualified shop with proper diagnostic tools was key to solving the problem completely the first time around.

Thanks for the advice. I finally got my Suran fixed last week. After reading about similar ABS problems, I went to a certified shop specializing in VW diagnostic work. The mechanic found multiple issues, a faulty wheel speed sensor and corrupted ABS control module, just like others mentioned. The total repair cost was 1200€, which included complete replacement of both parts plus labor. The difference in driving is remarkable. The ABS works perfectly now, no more warning lights on the dashboard. The speedometer and odometer are both giving accurate readings again. Even the overall braking feels more stable and predictable. Really glad I chose a specialist shop with proper diagnostic equipment rather than trying quick fixes. The thorough testing they did caught all the related sensor malfunctions. It was more expensive than I hoped, but the peace of mind knowing everything is working correctly makes it worth it.

Last month my VW Golf GTI 2011 had similar ABS issues. The symptoms matched exactly, constant ABS warning light and unstable braking performance. The input from the wheel speed sensor was failing, which made the ABS control unit malfunction. The repair required replacing both the ABS sensor and the control unit module. This was a serious issue that needed immediate attention since it affects essential safety systems like the speedometer, odometer, and overall braking stability. The diagnostic scan revealed intermittent signal readings from the sensor, causing the ABS controller to shut down as a safety measure. Replacing just the sensor would not have solved it since the control unit had already been damaged from receiving faulty signals. For proper diagnosis, look for a shop with specialized VW diagnostic equipment. The ABS system needs specific testing protocols to accurately identify if both components require replacement. This is not a repair to postpone since it impacts critical safety functions. A certified mechanic can test the sensor circuit and control unit separately to determine the exact failure points. Given the relatively low mileage, this could also be covered under extended warranty if you have it.
