VW Suran Cabin Fan Dies, Blower Motor Fails Completely
Summary of the thread
The cabin fan in a 2010 VW Suran stopped working completely, with the blower motor unresponsive at any fan speed setting. Possible causes include a faulty blower motor, a defective fan speed controller, or damaged electrical wiring. Suggested solutions involve replacing the blower motor and checking the fan speed controller and wiring for issues. Early diagnosis and repair can prevent further damage to the system, ensuring strong and consistent air circulation.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I had almost identical symptoms on my Spacefox last year, complete cabin fan failure and no air circulation at any setting. Mine also needed both the blower motor and fan speed controller replaced. However, I was lucky that the wiring harness was intact. The repair got everything working perfectly and the air flow is now better than before. Would you mind sharing what the total repair cost was in your case? Just wondering how it compares, since mine came to around 450€ parts and labor combined. Have you had any other climate control issues since the repair?

I went back to the mechanic and got everything fixed last week. The heater fan is now working perfectly after they replaced the defective blower motor. Total cost was 365€, which seems reasonable compared to your repair since they only needed to swap the motor itself. The electrical wiring and fan speed controller were still in good condition in my case. The air flow is actually much stronger now than before the failure. Since the repair, the cabin fan has been running smoothly at all speeds with no climate control issues. I guess the blower motor had been gradually weakening before it completely stopped working. My repair bill was lower than yours since they didnt need to replace additional components. The mechanic explained that catching these issues early, before they can damage the wiring or speed controller, usually means a simpler fix.

Thanks for the input. Finally had this fixed last week. The HVAC system needed a new blower motor, just like the others mentioned. After seeing these responses, I decided to have the fan speed controller checked too. Luckily it tested fine, and the wiring was in good shape. Total bill came to 280€ for parts and labor, which felt reasonable since only the motor needed replacement. The cabin fan now works great, much better air circulation than before. The mechanic said the old motor had been slowly failing for a while. Good thing I got it fixed before it could damage other components in the system. The air flow is strong and consistent at all speeds now. Glad I asked here first, helped me understand the possible issues before going to the shop. No more problems with the air circulation since the repair.

Had the same problem with my 2013 VW Fox 1.6. The blower motor stopped working without warning across all fan speeds. The issue turned out to be more complex than expected. First, the fan speed controller was tested and showed failure. After replacing it, the blower motor still did not respond. Further diagnosis revealed damaged electrical wiring between the climate control module and the blower motor. The complete repair required: Replacing the blower motor assembly, Installing a new fan speed controller, Repairing the electrical wiring harness, Resetting the climate control module This was a serious repair that took about 6 hours of labor. The blower motor failure can happen from normal wear, but in my case, water damage had corroded the electrical connections over time. Would recommend getting a proper diagnosis since multiple components could be causing the no-response symptoms. Especially check for any water leaks near the passenger side floor, as this often contributes to blower motor and wiring damage.
