Thanks for sharing your repair experience. Pretty much mirrors what happened to mine. Really helped getting that wiring harness fixed before temperature control issues caused more problems during winter driving. Did the repair bill end up being reasonable? Would be good to know what to expect cost-wise. Also curious if everything has stayed working properly since the fix?

Thanks for asking about the follow-up. Got my rearview mirror heating fixed last month and it cost exactly 95€ for repairing the faulty cable connection. The winter driving has been much safer since the repair, with clear visibility through both side mirrors even in cold weather conditions. The mirror heating system works flawlessly now, no more error codes or intermittent failures. The mechanic found the issue was indeed just a damaged connection, not requiring full mirror replacement. The repair has held up perfectly through several frosty mornings, which confirms the car electronics are functioning as they should. For the price paid, getting proper mirror heating function back was definitely worth it, especially considering how crucial clear mirror visibility is during winter conditions.

Now I understand what happened with my mirror heater issues. Finally got it sorted at a local repair shop last week. The mechanic spotted the worn wiring right away and fixed it during the same visit. Total repair came to 110€, which seemed fair for the work done. The car mirror heater elements work great now, no more foggy mirrors on cold mornings. Such a relief having proper visibility again. Definitely worth fixing rather than waiting for bigger problems to develop. Will keep an eye on those door wiring points going forward to catch any early signs of wear. Much safer driving now that the car electronics are working properly. Would recommend anyone with similar mirror heating problems get them checked sooner rather than later.

Had the same problem with my 2017 VW Polo TSI. The car electronics were showing similar error codes for the mirror heater element failure during cold weather periods. After proper diagnostic testing, it turned out the issue was a damaged wiring harness where it connects to the door. The constant opening and closing had worn through the protective sleeve, causing intermittent connection problems with the heater element circuit. The fix required removing the door panel and mirror assembly to access the wiring. Found several corroded connections due to moisture getting into the damaged area. The mechanic had to replace the entire mirror wiring harness and check all connector points. While not a major mechanical issue, it needed immediate attention to prevent further electrical problems. The car mirror heating now works perfectly even in freezing conditions. Worth noting this is a common wear point on these models, the wiring gets stressed at the door hinge area. Regular inspection of the door wiring boots can help catch issues early before complete failure occurs. For safety reasons, suggest getting it checked soon, as non-functioning mirror heaters can seriously impair visibility during winter driving conditions.
