I experienced nearly identical symptoms in my 2016 VW Tiguan TSI. The check engine light started flashing during acceleration, accompanied by significant power loss and jerking, classic signs of a cylinder misfire. After diagnostics, it turned out one fuel injector was faulty, not delivering the correct fuel spray pattern for proper combustion. The mechanic found carbon buildup inside the injector, disrupting the fuel atomization. This created an uneven air-fuel mixture leading to the combustion misfire. The repair involved: Testing all fuel injectors, Removing and cleaning the fuel rail, Replacing the defective injector, Running injector flow tests, Clearing the check engine light codes This was a serious issue requiring immediate attention, as continued driving could have damaged the catalytic converter. After the repair, the engine performance returned to normal with smooth acceleration and proper power delivery. Worth noting that spark plugs and ignition coils were also inspected, as they can cause similar symptoms, but the fuel injector was the confirmed culprit in this case.

Since getting the repair done, the engine has been running flawlessly with no signs of rough idle or combustion misfires. The total cost came to 515€ for replacing the defective injection valve/injector, including parts and labor. The mechanic also performed a thorough fuel system cleaning to prevent future issues. The repair completely resolved all symptoms, no more jerking during acceleration, no check engine light, and power delivery is back to normal. It has been about 8 months now without any problems. Regular maintenance and using quality fuel helps prevent these issues from recurring. The investment was worth it to prevent potential damage to other engine components. When fuel injectors fail, it really impacts the entire combustion process, so addressing it quickly is crucial. Getting the right diagnosis and fix from a qualified technician made all the difference compared to my previous disappointing repair experiences.

Thanks for the input. Wanted to share how my repair experience went. After reading about similar symptoms pointing to cylinder misfire issues, I took my T-Cross to a certified VW workshop. The throttle response problems were getting worse, so I knew waiting wasnt an option. The diagnostic confirmed a combustion misfire due to a failing spark plug and worn ignition coil on cylinder 2. The mechanic showed me the damaged parts, the spark plug electrode was completely worn and the coil had visible cracks. Total bill came to 290€ including: New spark plugs for all cylinders, Replacement ignition coil, Diagnostic fee, Labor The engine misfiring is completely gone now. Acceleration is smooth again with no jerking or power loss. Really glad I got it fixed before any serious damage occurred. Much better experience than my last repair shop visit.
