VW T-Cross Multiple System Failures Strike Owners

Last service was at 30000km and currently showing multiple system failures and warning lights. The workshop initially suspected a software issue, but reprogramming the control module did not resolve the problems. The malfunction indicator still appears out of nowhere during drives. Getting it diagnosed again next week since these electrical gremlins are becoming more frequent and concerning. Hoping it is just a wiring issue like yours and not something more serious with the main control unit.

Thanks for the update on your T-Cross situation. Based on my experience with the nearly identical issues on my VW, the fact that reprogramming the control module did not fix the problem strongly suggests a hardware-related cause, similar to what I encountered. The OBD-II scan tool in my case initially pointed to various unrelated systems, which was a key indicator of a communication problem rather than individual component failures. Since your warning signals are also appearing out of nowhere, I suspect you are dealing with a similar wiring or connection issue. When my car was acting up, I noticed the problems would sometimes get worse after driving over rough roads or during wet weather. Have you observed any patterns like this? This kind of information helped pinpoint the loose connection in my case. A thorough inspection of the wiring harness, particularly around the main control module connections, would be worth requesting at your next workshop visit. Make sure they check for: Damaged or corroded connectors, Loose ground connections, Pinched or chafed wiring bundles, Water intrusion points The check engine light and system failures should completely resolve once the underlying connection issue is fixed, just as they did in my case. Keep us updated on what they find during the diagnosis next week.

Since you mentioned checking the workshop next week and are still having issues with multiple warning lights, I will follow up on this thread afterward. The malfunction indicator is still coming on out of nowhere during my drives, which is quite frustrating. It is reassuring to hear that your similar electrical issues were resolved by fixing the wiring harness. The inconsistent nature of these system failures matches exactly what you described, they seem worse on certain days but without a clear pattern. I have started keeping notes about when the warning signals appear to help the workshop with diagnosis. You make a good point about checking for moisture and connection issues, as our climate has been quite wet lately. I will definitely ask them to inspect all the wiring and ground connections you mentioned. Really hoping the scan tool helps them locate a simple wiring fault rather than a major control unit problem. Will update this thread once I get the results from the workshop next week and let everyone know if it turns out to be a similar wiring harness issue.

I had a similar issue with my 2021 VW T-Roc. Having some experience with electrical issues in modern cars, those symptoms immediately reminded me of my own situation last year. The check engine light and multiple system failures were exactly what I experienced, unusual control unit errors, infotainment glitches, and various warning signals popping up unpredictably. The engine diagnostics revealed multiple stored error codes, but they kept changing. After taking it to the workshop, they found a damaged cable connection to the main control unit that was causing communication issues across the BUS system. The intermittent nature of the problem made it tricky to diagnose at first. The repair involved replacing the wiring harness and properly securing the connections, which solved all the system failures. Total cost was 155€ for parts and labor. To help troubleshoot your specific case: What engine type do you have? Have you noticed any pattern when the malfunctions occur? (cold starts, after driving for a while, during specific weather conditions), Did you have any recent work done on the vehicle? Are there any visible damage or signs of moisture around the engine compartment? This information would help determine if we are dealing with the same root cause or if there might be other factors involved.
